Midnight On the Midway

Violet got out again last night after Caroline and her parents were asleep. She stopped and picked up Jim from his secret hideout and they flew off to the Carnival on Universitaaaahh Street.

They ate candy apples and popcorn and rode rides and went into the fun house ten times because that's Violet's favorite part.

Jim wanted to go into the Valentine Ride, which is for lunatic teenagers who like to kiss eachother, but Violet was really grossed out and refused. She told Jim, "We're only three years old! We don't do disgusting stuff like KISSING! Ewww!". Jim, not having realized what the Valentine ride meant----he thought you went there to get candy hearts, you see---shivered his blue ears at the thought and agreed. He considered himself very lucky to have a friend like Violet who would never want to do something as horrible as kissing him!

Instead, Violet suggested that they go into the Tent of Myth to visit the Centaurs and Satyrs, Laistrygonians, Ladon the Dragon and the Hespirides, as that is obviously much more fun than icky blicky kissing! They went in and were immediately captivated by all the wonder they beheld! They walked around, peering at the magnificent and magical creatures and found them all to be fascinating. But Violet loved the pile of shiny golden apples that was guarded by Ladon the most, and she wanted one for a souvenir. When she tried to reach for one though, Ladon rose up to his full height and snapped his yellow teeth angrily at her. She pulled her trunk away in the nick of time! But even though she had escaped, Ladon's dragon breath lingered in the air and stank so badly----worse than broccoli even!--- that Jim thought they ought to leave. Violet couldn't argue--it was too much for a three year old.

So Violet and Jim called it a night and each flew home, promising to meet again soon. Next time, they said, they'd each bring an extra friend or two. After all, everyone knows that when you're a flying elephant, there's safety in numbers!

The First Night

The first night that Violet realized that Caroline and Caroline's parents were gone, she decided to sneak out of the house. So she tiptoed to the window and flew right out and went to Sweden. Somewhere in the middle of the journey--she refused to tell Caroline where, in case Caroline might look for her there at a later date and bring her home again---she stopped and picked up Jim, the blue elephant and Violet's best friend.

There were Violet-and-Jim-sightings all over Sweden the next day. People swore they saw blue and pink streaks darting in and out of the trees. No one knew what it was except for Caroline, who read about the UDOs (Unidentified Darting Objects) in the news the next day.

What did Violet and Jim do in Sweden? Violet refused to say, except for stating that she "deserved a vacation".
